CT for five days

A lot to report from CT, but not a lot of pictures. It was great to see old friends and family, as always.

Turkey and all the fixin's was great at John and Ceil's. Lot's of little kids running around, potato stuffing, and Best Buy circulars. Thanks for the hospitality.

I took my Mom to experience sushi for the first time, California and eel rolls were a hit.

Maegen and I went to her 10 year high school reunion on Friday. To be honest, it was not fun. Here is a quick recap of 90% of the conversations.
"Hi"
"Yep I live in: (a) Boston, (b) New York City, (c) still in Madison
"Well I'm a: (a) teacher, (b) lawyer, (c) in insurance"
"Well nice to talk to you"
Check out the picture below, Maegen's name tag was her senior portrait. No, Jimmy was not at the '97 Hand HS reunion, we met him at plan b after.

The Whale - 11.24.07

Michael, Kelly and I went to a Wolf Pack game on Saturday night while I was in CT. Lot's of memories of the Whale in the old Civic Center. I can still remember my first game. It was probably 1986 and my dad took Dave Frederick and I to see the Whalers play the Canadians. The Canadians won 4-1, but when the Whale scored that one goal (in the third period) and the brass bonanza played, it was life changing. I think Dave covered his ears because it was so loud. Pics below from Mike's cell phone.

Opening weekend.

Great opening weekend. I went riding both mornings. Saturday was insane, 12" of fresh - I was actually getting a face shot in November. It would have been a great day in February, never mind the first day the mountain was open. Below are few pictures of the chair lift and the shed. Maegen, Ted, and I were the first ones in the Shed - those were some fresh tracks. The video is from over on Perry Merrill. The Gondi wasn't open, but we made our way over. Check out Jeff's slash at the end.

Ready.

Stowe opens tomorrow. The automatic coffee maker is set for 6:25am. We had to chose from the quiver below. It's hard because you want to take your new board out, but it's too risky early season. Vin's not gonna be there, which is really weird. He almost came home early from vacation in St. Martin, almost.

Eddie

On Saturday morning I was perusing the newspaper and came across some boxer puppies for sale that sparked my interest even though I have been telling Jay for a while now that I don't want to get a dog. A couple hours later, my friend Kate called to tell me that she was the foster mom for a boxer-lab puppy for the weekend and she was bringing him over to meet Jay and I. I thought it had to be some sort of sign. Anyway, Jay and I got more and more excited to meet the dog as the day went on. Finally, he arrived. Jay named him Eddie almost instantly and even quicker than that, we fell in love with him. Stella even came over to meet him to see if she approved of her potential new cousin. At the end of day, we decided that Eddie is not the dog for us. We are concerned that he might be part pit and that he may have been taken from his mom too early. We also decided that training a puppy in our little apartment would be quite the challenge. So, we need to get the house first and then the puppy. In the meantime, Jay is excited that I have somehow come around to the idea of getting a dog. I'm still not sure how that happened.

A life changing experience...at Costco

Every morning on my way to work I stop and get a coffee...that is, until yesterday. With some birthday money, I bought the cadillac of coffeemakers. Last night, I filled it with beans, set a little timer and happily went to sleep. This morning, I got out of the shower to find a pot of freshly ground, freshly brewed, hot coffee. What an amazing thing!! I didn't quite know what to do with myself when I got in the car. My pre-coffee autopilot was all out of whack. I didn't have to sleepily find my way to the coffee shop. I just got in the car and drove happily to work, coffee in hand. So, what does Costco have to do with all of this... I found the coffee maker of my dreams for quite a reasonable price at Costco. I feel like a new woman.

Maegen's Birthday!

We celebrated Maegen's birthday on Saturday. Dinner at Trattoria, drinks at the half, and the Chuch at Nectars. Good times with family and friends.

Rail Jam Bro

We went the rail jam in front of our apartment last night. It was kind of lame, but fun. We made our own VIP box in the back of truck so we could see. The rest of the night saw us at Mr. Mike's (where we spotted some random French Canadian) and then onto Finnegan's. For some reason I took a lot of photos of Ross.

Mike and Kelly in Keywest

Mike sent me this photo to my phone last night (it was 30 degrees here).

People often ask me what the deal is with the Conscious Alliance. Justin put together a nice video that sums it up....
